Frequently Asked Questions

What are the signs my skylight needs to be replaced?
  • Leaks or stains on the ceiling/walls
  • Condensation between panes (failed seal)
  • Cracked, yellowed, or foggy glazing
  • Drafts or rattling, damaged flashing, or deteriorated seals
  • If your unit is 10–20+ years old, it’s smart to inspect yearly.
I don’t have a skylight—can I add one?

Yes. We can cut in a new opening, frame the shaft, install the skylight with the correct flashing kit, weatherproof it, and protect your interior during the cut. (Drywall/paint finishing can be included on request.)

What’s the price range?

Cost depends on size, type (fixed, venting, tubular), glass package, integrated shades, and whether it’s deck- or curb-mounted. New cut-ins cost more than like-for-like replacements. We’ll provide a written on-site estimate so you know exactly what’s included.

Do I need a permit?
  • New cut-ins: Usually yes (you’re altering the roof/structure).
  • Like-for-like replacements: Often no, but it depends on the city and if framing changes are needed.
  • We’ll check local requirements and pull any permits needed.
